Customer Review: Great system
I have had this for a couple of months now, and so far so good. I haven’t had any pump problems, but for those who need to a new one here is the site.

I would check the impeller before ordering a new pump. Sometimes they get gunked up and need to be cleaned. My only complaint is that the system stays hotter than I would like. I live in Florida and the room is usually 77F, while the tank stays at 81F. My fish don’t seem to be bothered, but I keep my bigger tank at 78F and would prefer to do the same with this.
Customer Review: Staying Afloat
I just started on my second filter after the first malfunctioned. Discussion with a pet store employee revealed that the water level in the aquarium must be above the impeller inside the filter and thus close to or touching the part of the filter that sits above the aquarium. So you should definitely unplug the filter when changing water and make sure you refill it close to the top. If the filter is allowed to run when the water level is low the motor will burn out. Also Marineland sent the replacement filter to me for free two days after I called them. Their number is on the instruction sheet that comes with the aquarium.
